The Trumbull House is the home of Connecticut's Revolutionary War Governor, the only colonial governor to support the war for independence. Washington, Franklin, the Adamses, Rochambeau, and Lafayette came here for conferences.
Built between 1735 and 1740, the house is furnished with period antiques, including some of the Trumbull possessions.
The Wadsworth Stable, where General Washington may have kept his horse, Nelson, was moved from Hartford in 1954 to it's present location next to the Governor Jonathan Trumbull House. The stable is a fine example of Palladian Architecture.
The Connecticut Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution maintains and supports both buildings.
