The Jones Library, Inc. has a collection of approximately 180,000 volumes.
This public library is arranged to resemble a luxurious private home. Several rooms, panelled in walnut and Philippine white mahogany, are decorated with Oriental rugs and paintings. The special collection section has research collections and individual rooms about Emily Dickinson, a former resident of Amherst.
Library open Monday-Saturday 9am-5:30pm, also open Tuesday and Thursday 5:30pm-9:30pm in September through May.
