Search Meridian Mississippi

Located in Meridian's Highland Park on 41st Avenue. This historic carousel was built in 1896 by German immigrant Gustav Dentzel for the 1904 St. Louis Exposition, and later sold to the City of Meridian. The gaily ornate merry-go-round is one of the country's oldest, and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Open afternoons daily in the summer, weekends the rest of the year. The carousel was restored in the early 1980s. The carousel house is the only one remaining of Dentzel design and the carousel is the only two-row Dentzel still in operation.
