Visit one of the turn of the century residences open to the public in Vicksburg. The National Register DJ Shlenker House was built in 1907 by a prominent Jewish cotton factor and wholesale grocer. It was designed in the Prairie style, made popular by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Nestled on an acre of informal gardens, the house has been restored to its original grandeur, includes stained glass windows, fine woodwork, and is furnished with period antiques and family heirlooms. Includes displays of period household gadgets and clothing. Approx. 30 minute tour.
Our guests are offered accomodations in three cottages, one(c.1890) with two suites. The Cottages are nestled on the grounds of Vicksburg's most important Prairie style residence, The Shlenker House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Sitting on an acre of informal gardens, the unique two-story house was built c.1907.
