Unlike other historical museums, the Oregon Military Museum is also about the present and the future. A living tribute to those Oregonians who answer the call to participate in maintaining America's freedoms.
The Oregon Military Museum is dedicated solely to the preservation of Oregon's rich military heritage. This heritage begins with the first militia company of 1843 and extends to the present time. It embraces all branches of the military.
Realizing that tangible evidence of Oregon's military heritage was being neglected, lost, or destroyed, the Adjutant General of Oregon founded, with the authority of the Oregon Legislature, the Oregon Military Museum in 1974.
The current 6000-sq-ft building is scheduled to be expanded to 17,500 and fundraising is underway. The museum is located at Camp Withycombe in the town of Clackamas.
