The museum was established in 1959 in a warehouse displaying a small collection of World War II artifacts. The current museum building was built in 1976, and the aviation pavilion was added in 1980. Miniature models and dioramas as well as the actual vehicles, helicopters, winged aircraft, trains and marine craft, depict more than 200 years of Army transportation history.
