This museum contains many artifacts, including fossils, minerals, antique firefighting apparatus, and pioneer articles and is housed in the historic National Guard cavalry stable. Jenny Stockade is also located at this site. It was built in 1857 by the expedition sent into the Black Hills to investigate reports of gold at the request of the government. The structure, though used for many purposes, was best known as a way station on the Cheyenne/Deadwood stage line, which operated from 1876-1886. Admission is free.
