The Altamont School was established in 1975 through the merger of the Birmingham University School for Boys and the Brooke Hill School for Girls. The merger resulted from the conviction that a strong,` independent coeducational school could best serve the needs of the Birmingham community. It ensured the continuance of a tradition of high academic standards and excellent college preparation. The school improves the fabric of society by graduating compassionate, well-educated individuals capable of independent thinking and innovative ideas.
