Northport is located in Tuscaloosa County (Central Region), across the Warrior River from Holt along Highway 82 near Lake Tuscaloosa placing it as part of the Tuscaloosa, Alabama metro area.


The city is full of history dating back to the times when it was the site of a convenient ford across the river for those crossing the Alabama Territory. Now the city holds the Kentuck Museum boasting much of the history in the area. It is a site for those seeking a rich history. The Historic Downtown is also an excellent area to find all kinds of "hands-on" history.
The attractions in the area are the Hidden Meadows Golf Course, Kentuck Arts & Craft Center, and the Oliver Lock and Dam. These places are excellent to visit due to the amount of wonder and excitement about the area.
