Lake Village is located in Chicot County (of which it is the county seat north of Eudora between Chanticleer and McMillan Corner along Hwy 65 just west of the Mississippi River and boarder.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,645, a decrease of 146 since 1990.
Lake Village is blessed with rich farmlands of cotton, soybeans, rice and catfish farms. The surrounding woods are beautiful flooded with an abundance of wild game. There are many deer located throughout the area year round, with many deer camps you can join. Fishing is one of many favorites, and this is the place. Major sport fish are bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, hybrid striper, and largemouth bass.
Attractions throughout the area include: Lake Village Golf and Country Club, Harvest Fest-Antique car show, barbecue cook-offs, fun and games (October), Confederate Soldier Statue erected in 1910 on Courthouse Square and “Whiskey Chute”- Body of water off Lake Chicot named in 1855.
