Saline Memorial Hospital opened its doors for business the first Sunday in June of 1955. Additional space was added in 1959 and 1968 extending bed space to 99. With addition of Wilson Wing in 1977 bed space increased to it's present level of 143. In 1986 the most extensive changes were made with conversion to a six floor patient tower and total renovation of the ancillary service areas. In 1989, the Medical Park Medical Office Building was added. With creation of additional structures and acquisition of additional real estate the physical facilities continue to grow and improve. To meet the rapidly changing environment of health care, in 1991 the governance of Saline County and the Hospital Board came together to reform the original Saline Memorial Hospital into a new 501(C)3 not for profit corporation. Armed with this change, the board and administration of Saline County Medical Center continue to make positive changes in the delivery of health care in the county.
