Ozark is located in Franklin County (of which it is the county seat) south of Fayetteville, between Fort Smith and Clarksville along US Hwy 64 and on the banks of the Arkansas River within the Ozark Mountains. Also situated just south of the Ozark National Forest and west of Lake Dardanelle.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,801, an increase of 430 since 1990.

Popular attractions in the Ozark area include: Arkansas Wine Country, Byrd's Adventure Center of the Ozarks, Mulberry River, Pig Trail Scenic Byway, Original Ozark Mural, Ozark Area Depot Museum, Ozark Bridge, Ozark Lake and the Ozark Mountain Meadows Horse Ranch, Inc.

Ozark is home to Arkansas Valley Technical Institute. The main staple for this communities economy is in the manufacturing industry.
