With a population of over 2,000, the main industries of Fort St. James are forestry and wood manufacturing. In addition to the Trading Post, visitors can see one of the oldest Catholic Churches in B.C., Our Lady of Good Hope, located on the shores of Stuart Lake. Behind the church is the cabin where Father Morice printed the Carrier Prayer Books and newspapers.
Stuart, Takla and Trembleur Lakes boast excellent trout and char fishing, and there are several fishing lodges where you can get the best lures, as well as tips on successful fishing. Fort St James is in the North by Northwest region of British Columbia.
