With a population of 1400, the main industry of the village of Fraser Lake is mining. Amenities here include hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, shops and services. Most of the area's lakes are loaded with rainbow trout and lake char. The Lake itself is a prime winter fishing spot for ling cod.
Logging roads have opened up the backcountry for hikers, cross-country skiiers and wilderness campers. Great views can be had from the top of Mouse Mountain, and visitors can also explore the extinct volcano at Red Rock. In the village, you can visit the museum or the waterfront park, where in late fall, hundreds of swans congregate on Fraser Lake.
