Search Hornby Island British Columbia

Lying off the southern end of Denman Island, and accessible only by ferry from Gravelly Bay on Denman Island, is Hornby Island and its ferry dock, Shingle Spit. Helliwell Provincial Park provides a good spot for watching marine animals and eagles. Colonies of birds nest along the cliffs. There is huckleberry-picking and a 3-mile hiking trail on the forested headland. Tribune Bay Provincial Park, at the southeast end of the island, provides safe, warm swimming and sandy beaches. No camping is allowed at either park, however some accommodations are available at bed and breakfast inns. Supplies and gas can be found at Ford Cove's ferry dock, and at the island center co-op store.

Hornby Island is close to Vancouver Island and looks across the Strait of Georgia at Texada Island.
