Located at the junction of four major highways, Merritt is the transportation hub of the High Country region. Access routes include Coquihalla Highway from Vancouver, Highway 5A South from Kamloops, Highway 97C from Okanagan Similkameen and Highway 8 East from Gold Country. The Merritt Visitor Info Centre is one of British Columbia's most beautiful, boasting an imposing log structure.
In Merritt, visitors can enjoy a rodeo, music festival, or spend a few days at a working guest ranch. The area also offers 150 lakes and streams, making it an anglers' paradise. Local lodges and resorts offer accommodation plans, boat rentals, guide services and tackle. There is also a 9-hole course at the Merritt Golf & Country Club.
