Slocan Lake lies in the Selkirk Mountains between Arrow Lakes and Kootenay Lake. It became a highway of commerce for early towns in the Kootenay Rockies. Highway 6 follows the east shoreline and passes through Slocan and New Denver.
Valhalla Provincial Park lies to the west of the lake and the much smaller Rosebery Provincial Park is on the opposite shore near the north end of the lake.
