Close to the big city of Vancouver but far from its crowds, the Sunshine Coast is a recreational haven just two hours by car and ferry from downtown Vancouver. Bordered by the snow-tipped Coast Mountain Range, this sheltered coastline stretches 180 kilometres (111 miles) along the northeast shores of the Strait of Georgia, from Howe Sound north to Desolation Sound.
A network of unique water-based communities are connected by Highway 101, also known as the Sunshine Coast Highway.
