Incorporated in 1970, Tahsis offers full facilities to visitors and boaters. Accommodations are limited, so the town attracts adventurous visitors who come to fish and cruise its isolated beaches and waterways. The town is one of the Nootka Sound ports of call for the regularly scheduled coastal freighter, the Uchuck III. Charter a boat or plane to remote fishing camps, or hike the unspoiled beaches and forests filled with wildlife such as deer, Roosevelt Elk, bears, wolves and cougars. Visitors can also explore caves or scuba dive in crystal clear waters. The toughest North American walkathon, "The Great Walk", (42 miles) is held in early June; participants raise money for their favorite charities.
Tahsis is west of Gold River on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island.
