Across the Malaspina Strait from the Sunshine Coast, Texada Island was a booming iron-mining area of the 1880's. Today it is a region of limestone quarries, the richest in the Pacific Northwest. Visitors can ride a bike or hike around the island, scuba dive or camp. An art gallery and unique "Flower Rock" jewellery can be found in Gillies Bay. Hotels and bed and breakfasts are offered in Van Anda and Gillies Bay.
Texada Island is connected by BC Ferries service to Powell River.
