The park zone is a mosaic of grasslands and interior Douglas fir forests. The park encompasses two large artifically created lakes -- Tunkwa and Leighton -- and many smaller lakes, wetlands and bog complexes.
Camping, hiking, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, motorized recreation, cross-country skiing and hunting opportunities exist within the park.
The park is accessed by gravel logging road from Highway 1 (The Transcanada Highway) or Logan Lake Road. There are rustic campsites on Tunkwa and Leighton lakes and private resorts exist on Tunkwa Lake. The park is located midway between Savona and Logan Lake on the southern Thompson Plateau, about 40 km southwest of Kamloops.
This is just one of hundreds of British Columbia Provincial Parks.
