The park, which is located on the west shore of Slocan Lake, lies north of both Slocan and Castlegar and encompasses most of the Valhalla Range of the Selkirk Mountains. It contains two lakes, Evans Beatrice, which are unusually large for such high elevation. Forests of western red cedar and western hemlock cover lower elevations, while higher elevations contains subalpine and alpine vegatation. A variety of wildlife exists, including both grizzly and black bear, mountain goat, mule and whitetail deer, Golden Eagle and Alpine Ptarmigan. The park has opportunities for recreatioin including hiking, fishing and wildlife viewing. Camping is restricted to designated sites.
