Whistler Village, located at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains is, since 1980, a self-contained community with a population of over 5,000 people. During peak winter periods, when travelers flock to Whistler Resort, the population jumps to nearly 30,000. This village has a cosmopolitan, European-style atmosphere reflected in its peaked cedar roofs and turrets, and pedestrian-only cobblestone plazas. The Village offers the facilities of a small urban centre, such as four-star hotels, fine restaurants, cappuccino bars, cafes, bistros, boutiques, ski shops, library, bike rentals, post office and medical centre. Activities available for every age group include festivals, outdoor concerts and street musicians.
