Brussels Grand Place is a huge town square, surrounded by Brussels' gothic Town Hall, the King of Spain Hall (which houses the Museum of the City of Brussels), and a dozen or so Guild Halls. The Guild Halls were built in the late 17th century (restored in the late 19th century) and represent trades such as painting, baking, tailoring, and brewing. Golden Tree Hall, the Brewer's Guild building, has a Brewery Museum in its basement.
Every other August, the cobblestones of the Grand Place are bedecked with a floral carpet for a few days -- a stunning display which adds to the impressive beauty of the baroque architectural marvels on its periphery.
