The aquarium is on a hillside above Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. The aquarium features marine life from both the cold northern waters and the warm tropical seas of the Pacific Ocean. Interactive exhibits and changing displays explore the latest developments in oceanography.

The aquarium is open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Days. The Aquarium is the busiest on the weekends, holidays, and during the summer. General Admission is: Adult $9.50, Child (3 - 17 ) $6.00, Senior (60+) $8.00, Student with valid University or College ID $6.50. A twilight discount of $1.00 off is given to all visitors arriving after 4:00pm.
