Chapman University traces its roots to Hesperian College which opened at the very hour of Abraham Lincoln's inauguration as the 16th U.S. president. Hesperian and several other institutions later became California Christian College in Los Angeles. Chapman's academic structure features six schools and two colleges, which combined offer more than 40 fields for undergraduate study and 20 graduate programs as well as a variety of credential and certificate programs.
