Founded in 1971 in San Diego, California, National University is a private, accredited, nonprofit institution of higher education. Since its founding, the University has provided access to high-quality lifelong learning opportunities to a diverse population of adult learners.

National is the second largest private institution in California with 26 learning centers in 11 major metropolitan areas.

National University offers over 46 undergraduate and graduate degree and 15 teacher credential and certificate programs. Disciplines include fields in business, technology, criminal justice, computers, education, human services, nursing, counseling, arts and sciences and, math.

The University is headquartered in San Diego County and has a total enrollment of about 17,000.
