Located in Amador County, near the town of Kit Carson, California along State Highway 88. Kirkwood Ski Resort Area offers Northern California's highest base elevation for some of North America's deepest, driest snow. A diverse 2,300 acres of wide-open terrain promises something for everyone, from gentle groomed trails for the beginner, to hair-rising steeps and chutes.
The resort offers innovative learn-to-ski and snowboard programs. A new Children's Center makes skiing more convenient for families and more fun for kids.
Seven separate condominium complexes just steps from the lifts provide comfortable accommodations and easy access to the slopes. Kirkwood also features a freestyle terrain park, half-pipe, snowboard center, cross country skiing, horse drawn slight rides, and more.
The summer season, mid-June through Labor Day weekend, offers mountain biking, horseback riding, a rock climbing wall and nature hiking within the valley. Kirkwood Ski Resort is also located near lakes and a golf course.
There is also a small California Central Valley Region town named Kirkwood.
