Visitors of the Long Marine Laboratory Aquarium have to opportunity to touch live sea anemones, sea stars, and hermit crabs at this University of California Santa Cruz research lab. Guests can also view dolphins, sea lions and an 87-foot blue whale skeleton.
The Aquarium is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. The Laboratory is closed on Monday.
Admission to the Long Marine Laboratory Aquarium is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students and seniors, $3.00 for youth, and young children are admitted for free. The first Tuesday of each month the Aquarium offers free admission to all visitors. Members of the Long Marine Laboratory visit free everyday.
Lab-wide tours depart at 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and the last tour ends at 4:00 p.m. A limited number of tours are offered each afternoon and are limited to 20 visitors per tour.
