The Washington Township Hospital District was formed in 1948 by a group of public-minded citizens. Washington Hospital opened its doors ten years later on November 24, 1958, as a district hospital licensed for 150 beds. Today, Washington Hospital Healthcare System is a 308-bed, acute-care general hospital. In January 1995, the District's name was changed to Washington Township Health Care District to reflect our mission to provide broad health care services in addition to hospital-based services. The District is governed by an elected Board of Directors made up of five members who each serve two or four-year terms. Washington Hospital Healthcare System serves the residents of Fremont, Newark, Union City, and part of South Hayward and encompasses approximately 124 miles of Southern Alameda County. The District's population is approximately 286,000.

California Exposition & State Fair Sacramento CA June12-28 The Cal Expo is the site of the California State Fair. All year Satellite Wagering, Waterworld USA, Paradise Island Fun Center and an RV Park are just a few of the features of the Cal Expo.The first State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco at the old Music Hall. The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet. Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
