Pacific Grove's Museum of Natural History has permanent exhibits, which interpret the native plants, animals, geology, and aboriginal populations of Monterey County. Visitors can take themselves either on a self-guided walk-through, or a talk from one of the Museum staff on a specific topic.

The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History Association was established in 1967. Each year the Association contributes funds to provide exciting temporary exhibits, educational activities, and lecture series. The Association runs a small Gift Shop in the Museum. The Gift Shop hours are from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on days that the Museum is open. The Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., except on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
