Search Pescadero California

Pescadero is located in San Mateo County northwest of San Jose between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz along US Highway 1 near Pescadero Creek and the Pescadero State Beach on the Pacific Ocean. Pescadero is part of the San Francisco, California metro area.

This is a popular little town 1 mile west of US Highway 1 and off of Highway 35, (Skyline Ridge Rd.).

Duarte's Tavern and Restaurant is a casual but full service establishment. The casual atmosphere belies the fact that this restaurant rates very high in quality and service. Dinner reservations are recommended.

In addition to Duate's, there is an auto service station, (Not another one around for many miles), and a variety of antique shops along the main street, (Stage Rd.). A grocery up the street offers fresh baked breads including Foccia, Ciabatta, Herb and Artichoke. For those wanting to enhance a romantic visit to Pescadero State Beach, stop by for a loaf of bread and a bottle of wine.

This stretch of Highway 1 is very popular with San Francisco-San Jose residents. It is so close to the urban areas but so far away in ambiance. Most travelers use the Highway 1 route, but for those choosing the Highway 35 route, a driving adventure is in store. South of Highway 84 on Highway 35 there is an exit on the west side of the road leading to Pescadero, aptly named, “Pescadero Rd.

CAUTION! Pescadero Rd, while paved and not heavily used, is narrow and VERY windy. While slow, this road displays breath-taking beauty and vistas as it winds its way down the canyons, through San Mateo County Memorial Park and on to Pescadero. A true sports car road and a real drivers challenge.
