Sinkyone Wilderness State Park

Search Visit California

The rugged wilderness that once characterized the entire Mendocino Coast can still be explored and enjoyed in the 7,367-acre Sinkyone Wilderness Park. For thousands of years before the first Europeans arrived, the Sinkyone Indians lived in this part of the coast. Most park visitors assume that humans have had little impact on the area. But every trail, road or flat spot has been modified by human activity. The park now has almost 40 miles of trails for hiking, bicycles and horses as well as primitive hike-in camping and a visitor center with room rentals.

The campground is open all year. The day use areas are open dawn until dusk.

The park is located 36 miles southwest of Garberville and Redway. Take Briceland Road off Highway 101. The last 9 miles are unpaved and may be impassable in wet weather.
