Located East of Angels Camp off of Highway 4 lies a wonderful California whitewater rafting area. At an elevation of 4,000 feet in the Sierra Mountains, the North Fork of the Stanislaus River is concealed among the granite cliffs and magnificent redwoods of Calaveras Big Trees State Park and Stanislaus National Forest. The Stanislaus River has its headwaters in the Stanislaus National Forest and flows westward into the San Joaquin River.
