The museum contains exhibits and interactive displays designed to show how technology affects everyday life. An audio kinetic sculpture made with billiard balls that run through a giant maze serves as the front entrance attraction. The 132,000 square feet of The Tech are shared by four major theme galleries packed full of one-of-a-kind exhibits, the Hackworth IMAX Dome Theater, an educational center for workshops and labs, an upscale cafe, and a retail store featuring books, gifts, and only-in-Silicon Valley items. An estimated 650,000 visitors are expected to trek to The Tech each year, making it one of California's most popular destinations. The Museum is open daily July and August. During the rest of the year the Museum is closed non-holiday Mondays, as well as New Years Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

All year Satellite Wagering, Waterworld USA, Paradise Island Fun Center and an RV Park are just a few of the features of the Cal Expo.The first State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco at the old Music Hall. The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet. Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
