Located at the Vail Transportation Center, the Colorado Ski Museum has been protecting and preserving Colorado's rich skiing heritage since 1977. The idea of skiing dates as far back as the stone-age period, and the sport continues with great popularity into the present years. It wasn't until the gold rush in the 1830's that skiing was introduced into the United States. Soon after, skiing moved it's way to Colorado, the home of the Rockies, where a whole new history of the sport was made. Located two blocks east of I70, off exit 176. Open Tues.- Sun. 10 am to 5 pm. Closed the months of May and October.
