The Rolnick Observatory is located at the highest point in Westport, and is also the home of the Westport Astronomical Society, which maintains the observatory, whose dome rests on top of an old NIKE radar tower. Gerry Rolnick, one of the founders of the Society, ground the 12 inch mirror of the observatory telescope, which is still in use today. The observatory is open to the public two nights per week, on Wednesday and Thursday, weather permitting. Free.
