Hastings is most famous for the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The ruins of Hastings Castle, erected around the time of William the Conqueror's invasion, overlook the 3 miles of coastline, much of which has disentegrated due to silt. Popular attractings include St. Clement's Cave, 100-year-old West Cliff Railway, Smugglers Adventure (wax museum), and an amusement pier. Hastings is located in coastal Sussex.
