The HMS Belfast is a cruiser. Launched in 1938, she saw service throughout World War II, playing a leading part in the sinking of the German battle cruiser Scharnhorst at the Battle of North Cape and in the Normandy landings.
After the war, she supported United Nations forces in Korea and remained in the service of the Royal Navy until 1965. In 1971, she was saved for posterity as a reminder of the role of the British Navy in the first half of the 20th century.
