This state park occupies most of an island which is one of a chain of barrier islands sheltering Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound, and is accessible only by private boat or passenger ferry service. The island features stunning natural features which draw visitors to enjoy the miles of beaches, acres of pine forests, mangrove swamps and a spectacular display of bird. Recreational activities in this subtropical paradise include picnicking, fishing, boating, primitive camping, rental cabins and beach activities. Swimming within the park is excellent, but no lifeguard is on duty; shelling is especially good during the winter months. Nature trails are available for walkers and hikers. The park is located directly south of Boca Grande.
