Bicycling, boat ramp, fishing, and nature trails are available on this island, one of the oldest inhabitated areas of Florida. There is a 4-mile self-guided trail tour which will allow the viewing of the huge shell mounds left by the indian habitation dating over 6,000 years ago. There are no camping facilities available.

Fort George Island Cultural State Park lies approximately 16 miles east of downtown Jacksonville on S.R. A1A, or three miles south of Little Talbot Island State Park.
