Library Cooperative Of The Palm Beaches, serving an area of 1,050,000 residents, has a collection of 1,540,000 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 69,000 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 58,000 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Internet terminals are available for use by the general public. Staffing consists of 500 employees, of whom 132 are fully accredited librarians, plus volunteers. The system comprises one central library and 21 branch libraries, plus 2 bookmobiles. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $5,000,000. Patrons make 4,600,000 visits annually, and check out materials 7,800,000 times. Twenty-nine percent of all check-outs are children's materials. It consists of the the Palm Beach County library with one central library and 13 branch libraries ; other member libraries in the cooperative consist
of the following independent municipal/city libraries.
