The Central West Region of Florida, also known as the Nature Coast, lies along the Gulf of Mexico and boasts numerous and diverse attractions. Art, theatre, museums, professional sports, state parks, rodeos, fresh- and salt-water fishing, and a lot more can be found in this region.

One of the more famous attractions of Florida, the manatee, can be seen all along the coast, predominantly around Crystal River and Homosassa Springs. This gentle "cow of the sea" is on the endangered species list, and boaters are advised to be cautious around the slow moving creatures. Other wildlife of the region include otter, deer, bear, turtles, alligators, great blue herons, egrets and scrub jays.

Of course, there are a lot of things to see and do in and around the cities of Tampa, St Petersburg and Sarasota.
