Search Eatonton Georgia

This mound is also known as Little Rock Eagle, primarily because it was located on property owned by the Little family. The effigy is located near the entrance to Georgia Power's Lawrence Shoals Recreation Area. Believed to be 5000-6000 years old and somewhat smaller than the effigy at Rock Eagle, this mound more resembles a hawk than an eagle. From head to the tip of its forked tail is 78 feet; from wingtip to wingtip is 132 feet; and its head measured from tip of the beak to the crown is 26 feet.

Always available for veiwing. Directions: Take Georgia Highway 16 East toward Sparta to Wallace Dam Road, approximately 12 miles. Turn left onto Lawrence Shoals Road.
