A good place to start to explore Chinatown is the corner of Bethel and Pauahi streets, the location of the Hawaii Theatre. North Hotel St. is one block southwest, which leads to the heart of Chinatown. A Chinatown Walking Tour is offered, but exploring is best done in daylight hours. The area is mostly Chinese, but also enjoys Vietnamese, Thai and Filipino influences. There are tattoo parlors, herbalists, food stalls, temples, shrines, noodle factories, antiques and art galleries.
