"Church College of Hawaii" first opened its doors Fall semester 1955 as a junior college with an enrollment of 153 students. Today Brigham Young University-Hawaii, located in Laie, Honolulu County, HI, has an enrollment of about 2200. Student housing is available for 1181. Baccalaureate and Associate degrees are awarded by the University in Business, Education and the Arts and Sciences. Studies leading to each of these degrees include work under the three general headings of Major Education, General Education, and Religious Education. The University also offers an Honors Program for qualified students. Athletic scholarships are given in basketball and other sports.
