Kona Community Hospital (KCH), the primary health care facility serving West Hawaii, is a 94-bed full service medical center; 33 beds Medical Surgical acute; 30 beds Skilled Nursing/Long Term Care; 7 beds Obstetrics; 11 beds behavioral health unit; and, a 9 bed intensive care unit. It is located in Kealakekua, Kona, 18 miles south of Kona International Airport. The hospital has expanded considerably from its initial wooden structure with 52 beds built in 1941. It is currently housed in a three-story structure constructed in 1975. This facility employs 400 employees. There are 61 active medical staff members representing a wide variety of medical specialties.

Merrie Monarch Festival Hilo HI June7-9 Merrie Monarch Festival is a week-long cultural event held annually in Hilo on the island of Hawaii. Festivities start on Easter Sunday and culminate with the Hula competition events at the Edith Kanaka'ole Tennis Stadium - Miss Aloha Hula on Thursday, Hula Kahiko on Friday, and Hula 'Auana on Saturday.
