Established in 1970, this 53 acre garden was renovated and redesigned in 1990 to include a native cultural garden, a volcano, waterways, and a water fall. In addition, there are palm, orchid and rose gardens. Located near Hilo, the garden has over 100 varieties of tropical fruit trees and 2,000 varieties of ginger, orchids and anthuriums, the waxy, heart-shaped flowers on a long stem that last three weeks after cutting. There is a plein air restaurant on the premises that is open for lunch daily and available for catered wedding receptions. An admission is charged. The gardens and restaurant are open daily.
