Search Visit Hawaii

The Waipo Valley is on the north coast of the Big Island. It is at the end of Hwy 240 and is six miles deep, the longest valley on Hawaii the Big Island. It was a vacation spot for Hawaiian royalty and King Kamehameha I fought Kahekii in 1791.

They fought in Kamehameha's first naval battle at the mouth of the valley. Few families live here today in an idyllic setting. The valley is home to wild fruit trees, bananas, taro and fish ponds.

The valley is famous for the spectacular 2,000 foot waterfall that cascade off cliffs to the valley floor. Several outfits conduct tours to the Waipo Valley and there is the No Name Hotel for overnight visitors to this Garden of Eden.
