Dow City Public Library, serving an area of 600 residents, has a collection of 12,600 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 19 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 220 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Staffing consists of one employee, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $840. Patrons make 4,400 visits annually, and check out materials 3,300 times. Twenty-nine percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
